Integrating Sustainable and Inclusive Development into the Classroom

This dynamic Erasmus+ professional development course provides participants with
practical tools, innovative methodologies, and inspiring strategies to incorporate the
principles of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into everyday teaching and
learning. Through interactive workshops, collaborative projects, and hands-on activities,
teachers will explore how to make sustainability and inclusivity relevant across different
subjects and age groups, while strengthening their own capacity as agents of change.

5-Day Course Program

Day 1: Foundations of Sustainable Education & the SDGs

  • Networking and icebreakers: establishing collaborative learning groups with
    European colleagues.

  • Demystifying the SDGs: unpacking the United Nations goals and exploring their
    direct relevance to modern, inclusive classroom education.

  • The Educator's Role: analyzing how teachers act as catalysts in shaping student
    values, critical thinking, and sustainable daily behaviors.

  • Baseline Assessment workshop: evaluating your current school environment and
    curriculum to identify immediate opportunities for green and inclusive integration.
     

Day 2: Innovative Methodologies & Cross-Curricular Integration

  • Curriculum Mapping: strategies for embedding sustainability and inclusivity principles
    seamlessly across various academic subjects and age levels.

  • Design Thinking in action: utilizing modern, student-centered frameworks and
    problem-based learning to address real environmental and social issues.

  • Collaborative Project Design: working in small international groups to build engaging,
    cross-curricular classroom activities and project outlines.

  • Peer Review session: presenting initial lesson concepts to exchange ideas, receive

Day 3: Digital Tools, Gamification & Active Engagement

    platforms, and educational AI tools designed for environmental learning.

  • Gamification in the classroom: applying game-based strategies and simulations to
    motivate students toward active ecological citizenship and social responsibility.

  • Hands-on Material Creation: drafting interactive worksheets, digital learning modules,
    and engaging lesson plans ready for immediate classroom deployment.

  • Practical Testing: conducting trial runs of the newly created teaching materials within
    peer groups to refine their educational impact and accessibility.
     

Day 4: The Whole-School Approach & Community Action

  • School Culture & Campus Operations: actionable strategies for scaling sustainability
    from the classroom into institutional policies, green campus initiatives, and daily
    school life.

  • Community Engagement: designing impactful student-led initiatives that bridge the
    school with local municipal projects, NGOs, or environmental organizations.

  • Overcoming Barriers: identifying common administrative, financial, or motivational
    challenges when scaling sustainability programs and developing practical solutions to
    solve them.

  • Structuring Action Plans: drafting concrete, step-by-step strategic roadmaps for
    institutional implementation and long-term school transformation.
     

Day 5: Action Planning, Reflection & Future Collaboration

  • Finalizing Plans: completing individual classroom blueprints or comprehensive
    institutional strategies for SDG integration.

  • "Idea Fair" & Presentations: sharing final action plans with the international cohort for
    collaborative validation, peer feedback, and trainer assessment.

  • European Networking: formalizing international partnerships and structuring
    post-course cooperation for future Erasmus+ collaborative projects.

  • Guided Reflection & Course Evaluation: synthesizing key professional takeaways,
    evaluating personal growth, and establishing long-term teaching goals.

Course Format: 5 days / Over 25 hours of effective lessons

Target Audience: Primary, Secondary, and Vocational Teachers, School Leaders,
and Educational Staff.

Certification: Participants will receive a formal Certificate of Attendance outlining the
core competencies achieved. For educators participating within the Erasmus+
framework, Europass Mobility documents will also be validated and issued to formally
recognize the professional development completed.
