Effective Communication with Coaching Elements
This 5-day course equips teachers with essential communication skills to foster positive, productive classroom environments and strengthen relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Through interactive workshops, participants will explore the principles of effective verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, and feedback techniques. The course integrates coaching strategies to enhance student engagement and personal growth, helping teachers guide students in problem-solving and self-reflection. By the end, teachers will have practical tools to communicate more clearly and motivate students toward success through a coaching mindset.
This session lays the groundwork for understanding the core principles of clear, empathetic communication in the educational context. Teachers will learn about the different types of communication (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and how to adjust their style depending on the audience—whether it's students, parents, or colleagues. The focus will be on creating a classroom atmosphere where open dialogue is encouraged and mutual respect is established.
Effective communication is not just about speaking but also listening. This session emphasizes active listening skills, which allow teachers to understand student concerns and respond appropriately. Teachers will practice techniques to listen without judgment, clarify misunderstandings, and ask open-ended questions. The session also covers how to provide constructive feedback that motivates students rather than discouraging them.
Teachers' non-verbal communication—body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice—can significantly impact how their message is received. This session helps participants become more aware of their non-verbal cues and how they can enhance or undermine verbal communication. Teachers will also learn strategies for commanding a positive classroom presence, creating an environment that encourages participation and mutual respect.
This session introduces basic coaching methodologies that can be integrated into everyday teaching practices. Coaching encourages students to take ownership of their learning by fostering self-reflection, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Teachers will explore techniques like asking powerful questions, promoting self-assessment, and guiding students toward setting and achieving their personal academic goals.
On the final day, teachers will put everything together by applying coaching strategies in real classroom scenarios. This hands-on session will allow participants to practice facilitating conversations that guide students toward self-directed learning. Teachers will learn how to blend effective communication with coaching to help students develop resilience, problem-solving abilities, and a growth mindset.
By the end of this course, teachers will have gained a deeper understanding of how to communicate effectively while employing coaching techniques to motivate and support their students' personal and academic growth.
